Derby Brewing is delighted to announce the sale of NOTSA to local ownership

Following a strategic review of its pub estate last year Derby Brewing decided to focus on a micro pub model, which has been so successful at the Hole in the Wall in Mickleover. With a focus on selling quality beer and artisan snacks rather than being food led, which as an award-winning brewer made complete sense. As a result of this NOTSA was identified as a site to move on, with the aim to acquire sites to fit the micropub model, in addition to the Hole in the Wall. With the acquisition of The Papermill, Darley Abbey completed in December and is currently undergoing refurbishment prior to its planned reopening later this week, as Little Darley.

Derby Brewing are proud of what they have created at NOTSA, so it was important to find a new owner who would continue to develop NOTSA going forward and build on the success of the site. From the outset local ownership was our preferred option so we are delighted to announce that the new ownership team will be headed up by Emma Johnstone & Owen Hawksworth from Aston itself. Both have been part of NOTSA journey and are currently working at NOTSA, so the transition will be very smooth.

Having been through the process over the last couple of months we would like to wish them every success with their exciting plans going forward and hope that the village and surrounding areas can get behind them, after all they are one of their own.

‘We are delighted for Emma & Owen and really feel that they have all the ingredients and plans to help fulfil NOTSA’s potential. From the outset we identified local hands-on ownership as key to the long-term success of NOTSA and are delighted that we have found exactly that!’
